The Best (vegan, gluten free) Oatmeal Ever

 

For too long me and my people have suffered through boxes of bland unfulfilling oats. But no more. We deserve better. 

These oats are amazing. So amazing that I (not kidding) have them for breakfast pretty much every single day. Sometimes lunch. Sometimes dinner.

*I use a lot of toppings so you can barely see the oatmeal but I promise it’s under there

What I used:

  • Gluten Free Oatmeal

  • Cinnamon

  • Frozen Mixed Berries

  • 1/2 banana

  • Hemp Seeds *optional

  • Sunflower Seeds *absolutely not optional, you better go to the store and buy these

  • Plant Milk (I recommend Cashew or Oat Milk)

  • 100% Pure Maple Syrup

What I did:

  1. Measure out 1/4 cup of GF oats and 3/4 cup water
    OR 1/3 cup of oats and 1 cup water

  2. Pour your oats and water into a pot and bring to... not a boil... bring to a light simmer

    *mix in a few dashes of cinnamon and 1tbsp maple syrup to sweeten

  3. Pour your desired amount of frozen mixed berries into a saucepan

  4. Start by pouring in about 1/4 cup water
    *add more as needed

  5. Bring mixed berries to a boil, then turn down to simmer

  6. Pour oats into a bowl then top with melted berries, 1/2 a sliced banana, hemp seeds and a generous amount of sunflower seeds

  7. Top with more maple syrup (optional)

    *Lick the excess maple syrup off the neck of the bottle cause you know you want to.

  8. Top off with a bit more plant milk

What you can do differently:

  • Add peanut butter to the mix, that always takes things to a new level.

  • Use different frozen fruit (but the frozen mixed berries are nice and sweet so 10/10 would recommend)

Note: Don't substitute maple syrup for other sweeteners, it's just not the same…
