Tempeh Bacon and Tofu Scramble


Vegan Bacon and Eggs

This tempeh actually tastes like turkey bacon which is amazing! The tofu scramble just tastes like fancy tofu but lets not focus on that.
The tempeh is what matters here.

What I used


Tempeh Bacon

  • Tempeh

  • 1 tbsp gluten free soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp sriracha

  • 2 tsp liquid smoke

Tofu Scramble

  • 1/2 a block of tofu

  • Onion

  • Spinach

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Dash of chilli powder

  • Dash of paprika

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • Water to thin

  • Sriracha

What I did


Tempeh Bacon

  1. Slice tempeh into thin slices

  2. Cut tempeh slices in half (horizontally)

  3. Make a marinade using soy sauce, olive oil, maple syrup, sriracha and liquid smoke

  4. Coat tempeh in marinade by tossing tempeh with marinade in a large bowl

  5. Fry both sides of the tempeh until slightly blackened

Tofu Scramble

  1. Cut a block of tofu in half

  2. Refrigerate one half

  3. Mash up the other half of the tofu block

  4. Make yellow sauce using garlic powder, chilli powder, paprika, turmeric and water

  5. Dice onion

  6. Sautée onion

  7. Throw in a few handfuls of spinach and allow them to wilt in the pan

  8. Throw in "tofu mash"

  9. Drizzle yellow sauce over the tofu

  10. Throw in a dollop of sriracha

  11. Mix in pan until tofu is evenly coated in sauce



What you can do differently:

  • You can add more seasoning but I probably wouldn't use less

  • I've heard using black salt makes the tofu taste "cheesier" although I've never been able to find it, if you do lemme know how it turns out

  • Cut up some fruit on the side otherwise you're just eating a plate of soy
