About Her

Stay curious about the world around us.

My name is Felicia and this space was created to encourage a culture of more mindful engagement with social issues. I’m interested in nuanced discussions driven by a spirit of conscious curiosity.

I’m a Socio Legal Theorist with an Honours BA in Law & Society and Human Rights & Equity Studies from York University. I’ve always been curious about the world and The Anthologie is a space for me to calmly think through all the complex dynamics that exist between individuals and the social groups/structures that govern their lives.

My Philosophy

  1. Self awareness and reflexivity are invaluable.

  2. Curiosity is often more valuable than judgement.

  3. Free thought, inquisition and expression are necessary pillars to explore our inner worlds, outer worlds and the bridge that connects them.

What is a Socio Legal Theorist?

I hold an Honours BA in Law & Society and Human Rights & Equity Studies from York University — and I’m a Socio Legal Theorist.

Law is a construct that both governs and creates society. Law isn’t separate from society but instead their relationship is symbiotic. The law always arises within, and is therefore inseparable from, particular social, cultural, geographical and historical contexts. Socio Legal Studies examines the social construction of the law, the letter of the law and the social realities created as the law is applied. It’s an interdisciplinary field that involves researching the social sciences, domestic law, international law, human rights discourse, philosophy, social change, social control, norms, deviance, identity, and culture.

That all sounds very flowery and academic, so to simplify — ultimately we’re examining the dance between society and the rules that govern our lives by asking the questions “How does society shape the law?” and “How does law in turn, shape society?”
